Acer Signs Distribution Agreement with Ingram Micro Canada

November 1, 2004

Ingram Micro Canada increases channel offerings with award winning computer product line

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO - Ingram Micro Inc., (NYSE: IM), a leading technology sales, marketing, and logistics company, today announced that Acer, a leading worldwide supplier of PC solutions, has signed a distribution agreement with Ingram Micro’s Canadian business unit.

This new agreement reaffirms Acer's indirect sales model commitment of selling their product line only through the channel. It also expands Acer’s reach into Canada by making the manufacturer’s products available to a new family of channel partners through Ingram Micro’s extensive network of Canadian value-added resellers (VARs).

"Acer and Ingram Micro have enjoyed a very strong and fruitful relationship across many countries around the world", said Rudi Schmidleithner, president, Acer America Corporation. "Earlier this year, we expanded our association to include the United States and the partnership has already shown significant results in a short period of time. Just recently, Ingram Micro U.S. honoured Acer America with their “Best New Vendor” Award which exemplifies outstanding growth and partnership for a new vendor within the channel and with Ingram Micro.”

"In Europe, Acer has shown phenomenal growth to become the number one European notebook supplier on the market in just a few years. Using Acer’s 2-tier model this growth has represented an enormous opportunity for Ingram Micro in Europe. Besides the notebooks, we’ve seen Acer’s market share grow rapidly across all its product categories and market segments, quarter after quarter,” said Peter van den Berg, vice president, vendor management and operations, Ingram Micro Europe.

"We welcome Ingram Micro to our family of distribution partners and look forward to leveraging each other’s strengths," said Terry Tomecek, general manager, Acer America Corporation (Canada). "We'll integrate Ingram Micro's industry-leading logistics and distribution management with Acer's versatile and competitively priced computer products to effectively increase our market reach and capture incremental revenue for Acer through Ingram Micro’s existing reseller base."

"We are pleased to be partnering with Acer, we believe this agreement adds a new dimension to the Ingram Micro portfolio of products,” said Murray Wright, General Manager, Ingram Micro Canada. "Working with our resellers we continue to explore partnerships that enable us to offer more diversified solutions to the market. Our goal is to deliver the best value and generate more demand and profit for our partners and their customers."

The first phase of Ingram Micro Canada's distribution agreement with Acer includes notebooks and monitors with the second phase extending the breadth of Acer's product line offerings in early 2005.
